Endangered Beat

A great tune by Ibrahim Electric. Unleash the Furry!

Finally, The Burrow is officially open!

What a journey it’s been to get here for me and Dax, my little badger friend! Experimenting with cameras, microphones, lighting, animation, recording and editing tools; transcribing and arranging the tunes we’ll be playing next; writing down ideas for upcoming articles about music from all perspectives (in English, which isn’t my native language, so please feel free to point out any mistakes)… So much to learn, many problems and errors along the way, and still so much to grasp. This project excites me to no end and I’m glad to share this video with you today.

Endangered Beat is a composition by Danish guitarist Niclas Knudsen, originally performed with his trio, Ibrahim Electric, on their 2004 self-titled album. The band — a power trio featuring organ, guitar and drums — blends afrobeat, jazz, funk, blues and rock with infectious energy. As luck would have it, they’ve just released a new album: Fast Fire. You can learn more on their official website. And if you get the chance, don’t miss seeing them live — their recordings are fantastic, but the real magic happens onstage.

For those interested, I’ve made a guitar transcription available here for free (tab, standard notation and video overlay).

I’d love to hear your thoughts — the good, the bad, the ugly — and any feedback or suggestions are always welcome. Next video should pop up next month and, hopefully, a few written articles in between.

Have a great one!

Adrien
